Application Process
The application procedure at Covenant Christian School is designed to give both parents and the school time and opportunity to decide if a place at CCS is right for the child and the family.

-
Parents will usually contact the school via the website or be referred via personal recommendation.
-
Parents will be informed if a place is available.
-
If a place is available for the child, a member of Management will liaise with the applicant family to arrange a first visit to the school.
-
At least one parent and the child(ren) are expected to visit the school when it is in operation. This may require more than one visit. Visits are the best way for parents to have a clear understanding of how the school operates.
-
During the initial visit, a member of management will discuss the commitment a family is expected to undertake when accepting a place.
-
All school policy documents are available on the school website and it is recommended that these are read before a visit in order for parental enquiry to be focussed.
-
If SEND/Medical needs are present the decision between management and family to move forward with the application process may be lengthened as the school will need to consider if needs can be met and if we are able to access additional resources if needed.

Stage 2
If a family wish to proceed with an application following the above:
-
The Management team, on behalf of the school, will assess if the parents considering a place have a clear understanding of what this means in terms of the level and nature of the commitment, and whether they are in a position to fulfil that commitment.
-
The decision of the Management team is final.
-
An application form should be filled in.
-
On its return, references from church leaders will be taken up for the purpose of establishing Christian commitment.
-
If the Management team agrees, two members of the team will visit the family home providing a further opportunity for discussion.
-
The interviewers will make a recommendation at the next Management meeting when a final decision will be made.

Notes
If a family is making an application for a child/ren at the beginning of their education, i.e. before their 5th birthday, the application should be made in good time If a family is wishing to transfer their child/ren from another school, it is advised that they are not removed until the above process is concluded. Parents of children accepted into the school will often find themselves working with children and in order to comply with the law, a DBS will be required along with a medical fitness self-declaration. In the event of a child on arrival, exhibiting or developing needs that the school feels can not be meet, the school reserves the right to withdraw its approval of a place for that child.

Impact
Having read this policy, prospective families and members of the school community will have a clear understanding of our application procedure and process.
